Well, well, well; what do we have here? It seems Barack felt it necessary to threaten the GOP with the following, “bring a knife to the fight in November and we’ll bring a gun.” This is metaphorically speaking, of course!

Classy guy, that Barack. This is just the kind of statement a campaigning JFK would have made. NOT!

Obama: ‘If They Bring a Knife to the Fight, We Bring a Gun’

Amy Chozick reports on the presidential race from Philadelphia.

Mobster wisdom tells us never to bring a knife to a gun fight. But what does political wisdom say about bringing a gun to a knife fight?

That’s exactly what Barack Obama said he would do to counter Republican attacks “If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun,” Obama said at a Philadelphia fundraiser Friday night. “Because from what I understand folks in Philly like a good brawl. I’ve seen Eagles fans.”

The comment drew some laughs and applause. But it also struck a chord with his Republican rival. John McCain’s campaign immediately accused the Democratic candidate of playing the politics of fear. They also mentioned that Obama said he would use a gun that would be illegal under Obama’s plans to cut down on illegal firearms.

“Barack Obama’s call for ‘new politics’ is officially over. In just 24 hours, Barack Obama attacked one of America’s pioneering women CEOs, rejected a series of joint bipartisan town halls, and said that if there’s a political knife fight, he’d bring a gun,” McCain campaign spokesman Tucker Bounds said in a statement.

Anyone in the MSM outraged that a presidential candidate would speak this way?  Of course not, this is the anointed one.  You won’t find any outrage here, no “Special Comment” from Keith “I’m a Flying A” Olbermann, no mention of Barack’s violence drenched words on any network except FOX.  CNN and MSNBC all taking a pass on responsible journalism.

George Bush is cowboy for telling our enemies, “Bring it on!” and Hillary gets pilloried for days on end for having mentioned a historical asassination, and Barack gets yet another pass from his hordes of adoring Kool-Aid drinking supporters.

God, save us from the smug, the uninformed, and the arrogant.

OK NY Times , Washington Post are respectable. WSJ Editorial Page and Weekly Standard are to the right of Atilla the Hun.
The future of the Wall Street Journal has been widely speculated on since the acquisition of Dow Jones by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp.

Truth is not defined by whether or not it is published in NY Times and Washington Post.

True… students at the bottom of their college classes do better than Valedictorians sometimes.

Just because dog bites man is not news and man bites dog IS news does not mean the the latter is the rule and the former is the exception.

As a pilot there is a pattern of disaster that has followed McCain . 5 lost planes, a disaster on board USS Forrestal. undistinquished 23 combat missions, collaboration with his captors as a POW, profane outbursts against colleagues, anger management proiblem, superstitious compulsive gambler.

    No Thanks!

  2. Doc:

I looked up the Jed Report. Its nothing but a hate filled extremist web site dedicated to tearing McCain apart. I’ll bet you can’t point to a single positive article about McCain.

Next time I ask for proof why not direct me to the Wall Street Journal, the NY Times, The Standard, Washington Post. Notice I gave you examples of resources that represent a myriad of points of view.

He was a lousy student . . . so were a lot of people who ultimately became successful. He gambles . . .WOW. Unless it has caused him to lose his home or be blackmailed into passing legislation of a questionable nature, who cares?

John McCain, His Lobbyist Gambling Buddy and a Shady Land Deal
By: Bill W. on Monday, May 26th, 2008 at 6:45 AM – PDT Jed Report:

Mac Daddy McCain loves rolling the dice (from Connie Bruck’s profile in The New Yorker):

“McCain is an avid gambler. Wes Gullett, a close friend who worked for McCain for years, told me that they used to play craps in Las Vegas in fourteen-hour stints, standing at the tables from 10 a.m. to midnight.” […]

Here are the key elements of the story:

Wes Gullet is an old friend and gambling buddy of John McCain. They rolled dice together in 14-hour-long sessions in Las Vegas.
Gullet was McCain’s campaign manager and top senate staffer and is now a lobbyist.
Gullet was hired to lobby McCain on the largest land swap in Arizona history, exchanging private land in the wilderness for valuable federally-owned land ready for development.
McCain, who initially opposed the swap, changed his position and supported it after Gullett was hired.
The land swap benefited one of John McCain’s top fundraisers who has hauled in more than $100,000 for his Presidential campaign.

    2. McCain went from being a lousy student to a risk-taking flyboy who almost sunk his own aircraft carrier and killed 168 sailor with a juvenile hotdog caper.
he BSed his way to war hero status after 23 unheroic combant missions and 5 1/2 years as a POW during which he sang like a canary.

  4. Doc:

There are countless examples of people who were lousy students who went on to become successful in life. You won’t find me in disagreement with you about Bush . . . McCain is another matter.

BTW, having a temper does not disqualify one for office or the presidency. Other than your statements to the contrary, where is the proof that McCain has a gambling problem. Can you site or direct me to a source/sources that verify this statement?

  5. I see a lot more similarity between GW Bush and McCain. Both got on in life because of successful fathers and grand fathers, were lousy students and screw ups in life. Neither used much of the intellegence they were born with.

  6. Don’t get your panties in a bunch — have you ever heard of the “Untouchables” or Sean Connery? That’s a “quote” from a movie.

If he said, “May the force be with you”, would you think he was an alien?

  7. Funny, I never thought of Bush as “decisive”, but I definitely think that Obama is the GWB of the Democratic Party.

The country is in danger of trading one “beginner” president for another “beginner” president.

  8. I believe the word they used for W was “decisive”. I expect them to transfer the vocabulary – as the two are quite similar anyway
