As regards Saladin, in comparison to the Crusaders during certain points in the Crusades, he displayed restraint. Richard the Lionhearted respected him. That says a lot.
It appears to me that today's Muslim religion is a perversion in the same way that Black Liberation theology is a perversion of Christianity.
