That’s a rich one isn’t it?

I got my laugh for the day when I first heard about this yesterday.

This is from the LA Times and  FOX News:

According to the Kansas City Star, the NAACP resolution will accuse the groups of engaging in racist behavior by displaying signs “intended to degrade people of color generally and President Barack Obama specifically.”

It will also accuse the activists of abusing black members of Congress — an apparent reference to an incident in March when Tea Party protesters allegedly hurled racial epithets at black lawmakers on Capitol Hill ahead of a health care vote. Tea Party members afterward challenged that account and no evidence was produced to show any racist actions.

Hmmm, think the NAACP finds this guy is racist? No, me neither.  It doesn’t fit their narrative … or excuse their lack of progress for the last 60 years despite equal opportunity legislation and a host of other government programs does it?

No, no, no … let’s not look inward and examine if our own actions are part of the problem.  It’s always easier to blame someone else for our own failures.  Taking Responsibility is such an adult response to those occurrences that impact on our lives.  It’s far better easier to wait on the government than grow up! Let’s not count all the advances … no, no, no that’s too easy.

Look s to me like the NAACP is caught in a time warp of the 1950’s and can only find white racists … what a tragedy.

  1. What is the difference between racism and stereotyping? This is one of my pet peeves. Nobody, and I mean nobody, has a handle on the tea party, it is still too ephemeral. It is not a party although I am sure that there are opportunists aplenty trying to hijack its message and organize it in their image.. I expect the the NAACP has conflated half assed speculation with wishful thinking. I have exponentially more confidence in the pollsters effort to determine the stats and characteristics on the Tea Party than I do a special interest group. Most of the Tea Party sympathizers I know have never been to a meeting. Even if a media rep attended a meeting say in Milwaukee what would the reporter have learned? Nothing. It would indicate nothing about the tea party in the next county, or state, or region, It would not give us any insight into tea parties in small towns or major urban centers, or suburbs, poor neighborhoods or ethnic neighborhoods. Ergo, these claims are just common ordinary gas bags blowing smoke.

    1. Edith:

People who stereotype are lazy, sloppy thinkers. They are little more than parrots with few, if any, original thoughts in their heads. That’s why we have “ditto heads” on one side and Palin haters on the other side.

Seems to me that racism is a manifestation of self-hatred and loathing.
