Washington’s spending insanity continues.
A few days ago Obama’s Sequestration kicked in. The national debt has reached over $16.7 trillion and still they keep spending. The 2013 requests for foreign aid can be found here. “Read it and weep”, as they say!
Here’s another story that makes one wonder, “What the hell are they thinking in Washington?” This is from an excellent piece in the Palestine Herald-Press (that it’d be Texas, Mam) written by Gary Connor.
A report titled “Foreign Aid: An Introduction to U.S. Programs and Policy” prepared by the Congress Research Service for congressional members lists only the top 15 ranking countries receiving foreign aid from the U.S. in 2010; however, a web site, www.foreignassistance.gov illustrates every country and the amount of U.S. foreign aid recommended for distribution in 2012. Foreign countries completing the 2010 Top 15 List include: Egypt $1.269 billion, Haiti $1,271 billion, Iraq $1,117 billion, Jordan $693 million, Kenya $688 million, Nigeria $614 million, South Africa $578 million, Ethiopia $533 million, Colombia $507 and West Bank/Gaza $96 million. More of the foreign aid recommendations for 2012 are most disturbing. The repressive regimes of Robert Mugabe in Zimbabwe and Omar al-Bashir in the Sudan are recommended for $109.9 million and $518.2 million respectively. Further, Russia $64.6 million, Mexico $333.9 million, Cuba $20 million, Somalia $82.3 million, and China $12.8 million are once again on the list for foreign aid next year. The following is only a partial list of proposed foreign aid for 2012. Iraq $2.36 billion, Egypt $1.5 billion, Nepal $93.8 million, India $142.6 million, Bangladesh $266.1 million, Vietnam $125.2 million, Philippines $163.5 million, Indonesia $253.1 million, Israel $3.0 billion, Jordan $675.7 million, Senegal $119.8 million, Liberia $211.4 million, Ivory Coast $142.8 million. Also, Ghana $204.5 million, Nigeria $660.4 million, Democratic Republic of the Congo $261.8 million, South Africa $561.9 million, Mozambique $424.5 million, Zambia $400.7 million, Tanzania $571.8 million, Kenya $751.4 million, Uganda $527.7 million, Columbia $400.2 million, Bolivia $32.7 million, Peru $111 million and Haiti $405.3 million. Foreign aid in smaller million dollar amounts are tagged for Tajikistan, Burma, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, New Guinea, Morocco, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Cameroon, Chad, Angola, Namibia, Lesotho, Botswana, Madagascar, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Brazil, Guyana, Suriname, Paraguay, Ecuador, Chile, Argentina and the Dominican Republic. These are only 61 of the 149 countries recommended to receive U.S. foreign aid next year. Certainly, the long list and the astronomical dollar amounts should send an alarming message to taxpayers and voters.
All of this hasn’t gone unnoticed in the rest of world. The U.K.’s Mail on Line recently noted the U.S. is giving billions of foreign aid dollars to countries that they owe money to including China and Russia! Pray tell, what could be the possible rationale behind these policies? Why are we giving away our precious taxpayer dollars to some of the world’s richest counties when we are essentially broke?
The U.S. is providing hundreds of millions of dollars of foreign aid to some of the world’s richest countries – while at the same time borrowing billions back, according to report seen by Congress. The Congressional Research Service released the report last month which shows that in 2010 the U.S. handed out a total of $1.4bn to 16 foreign countries that held at least $10bn in Treasury securities. Four countries in the world’s top 10 richest received foreign aid last year with China receiving $27.2m, India $126.6m, Brazil $25m, and Russia $71.5m.
Even if this country were flush with cash and we weren’t facing massive unemployment and massive deficits, a foreign aid program that gives money away to countries that don’t need it is asinine at best, criminally lacking common sense and good stewardship.
American politicians have the idea that money buys friendship.

Everybody says there is this RACE problem. Everybody says this RACE problem will be solved when the third world pours into EVERY white country and ONLY into white countries.
The Netherlands and Belgium are just as crowded as Japan or Taiwan, but nobody says Japan or Taiwan will solve this RACE problem by bringing in millions of third worlders and quote assimilating unquote with them.
Everybody says the final solution to this RACE problem is for EVERY white country and ONLY white countries to “assimilate,” i.e., intermarry, with all those non-whites.
What if I said there was this RACE problem and this RACE problem would be solved only if hundreds of millions of non-blacks were brought into EVERY black country and ONLY into black countries?
How long would it take anyone to realize I’m not talking about a RACE problem. I am talking about the final solution to the BLACK problem?
And how long would it take any sane black man to notice this and what kind of psycho black man wouldn’t object to this?

First of all who is “everybody” that is promoting this final solution to the race problem that you speak of? i’ve never heard any of these claims that you attribute to populations on a grand scale.
second of all – how are millions of third-worlders going to move anywhere, especially “white” countries as you call them? By their very nature, the overwhelming majority of those who live in the third world (by birth) are too poor to fund their voyage overseas. Not only that, but how would they even get a visa to get into your “white” country? The embassies don’t make it terribly easy for third worlders to get out.
Third of all – how many non-blacks have been colonizing “black” countries, even just within the past 50 years? Maybe the race problem you speak of is the white invaders funneling into third world countries to take advantage of the less fortunate. to spend two years in the foreign service or as an aid worker getting a cushy salary while imposing their flavor or the month intervention for better farming techniques or HIV prevention. then they head off to their next vacation destination while the population at large waits for the next “white” to come in with the hottest funded intervention.

Why are we giving a single cent away ?? We just incurred another $5 Trillion in borrowing over the last 4 years thanks to Obama. We should not give anything away – AT ALL – unless we have our own house in order.
What about this idea…instead of money let’s give CREDITS! You want goods then let it be purchased here. Does your government need vehicles…how about placing a purchase order at FORD or DODGE? Need military uniforms…isn’t there a company in, say, Alabama that can make them? Helmets? Made in America. MREs? Made in the US. GET THE IDEA?

Cutting foreign aid is so small compared to the overall budget, and that is why we continue to give. Our foreign aid expenditures amount to less than .2% of our total GDP.
That\’s an excuse not a reason. At some point all these expenditures that are only (fill in the blank) percentage of our GDP add up.
I don't get it. One website says we owe Japan, China, Iraq, Iran, and a host of other countries from whom we have borrowed, and have to pay back with inerest. So…..why are we giving them, and paying them too? We should demand that past 'gifts' be credited toward our debt to them, or take them off our charity list. Then negotiate a lower interest rate or 0% interest rate. We could then pay our debts, after which we could resume charitable donations. Right now, we need the charity, and that's a tragedy.
I think if we were to cut foreign aide by 10% across the board and use that money to take care of our problems here at home, that would still make us look like the good guys that we apparently so desperatly need convey to the entire world.
Does anyone have a grand total of foreign aide, as I would like to send my suggestion to Congress, & am sure I would get a prompt response ha ha

Compare it to Welfare. Our country gives billions and billions to welfare recipients and never ever ask for any of it to come back when they get on their feet and support themselves or become wealthy. Our stupid politicians cant manage their own money so why in the world would they be able to handle our tax money. I for one vote to not give foreign aid. And not to give free welfare money. There should be an I.O.U attached to both but at least those in the U.S. do pay some taxes anytime they buy here unlike foreign countries who take and take and then won’t piss on the U.S. if we were burning.

Great Spirit, Yhwh, that the poor and most lower middle class do not vote or are interested in current events, because if they realized no real healthcare, no ssi, no subsidies for U.S. born citizens, because upper middle class and wealthy politicians were cutting out U. S. benefits to give billions in foreign aid, Wow it would be bad.
Hello….I am Lower middle class, slowly sinking to upper lower class. I'm not understanding the logic behind giving charity to people who have more than we do, and then have to borrow anything we have to pay interest on. Furthermore, if we have conservative republicans supporting this insanity, why are they so against helping those in their own country who are not as blessed as those foreigners? It seems that they have some undercover benefit of foreign aid that they cannot get from American recipients of the same kind of aid. by the way, newt gingrich is an asshole. I hope he does get the republican nomination. Barack's re-election would be all but guaranteed. (unless, of course, the process is rigged like it was for bush)
There is no logic behind it. Don\’t be fooled by party names. There are progressives that inhabit both political parties. In the GOP they are called RINOS (Republican in name only). In today\’s Democratic party, the extreme, radical left are Democrats in name only. Both extremes are interested in retaining their power and not the American people.
Incredible. I just do not get it. This is insanity. Why are we paying off terrorists? Why are we the USA supporting dictators. Why would Hillary Clinton want to control such a large amount of taxpayer money and give it away indiscriminately? If you want to keep your money then vote for Ron Paul in 2012. Because of this and Hillary in particular I have switched my "party affiliation" and am voting Ron Paul. so we borrow money from china only to give it away to ungrateful nations, and to make things worse we expect out citizens to work and pay taxes until they are 80 so they can pay the loans back? whats wrong with this picture? at least 75 percent of nations who vote against the United States in the U.N. are getting some form of aid. Our politicians are so quick to stop or cut off benefits for American Citizens but not for foreign aid. Infact it was the Democrat congress who voted to INCREASE foreign aid to 48 BILLION dollars a year. Up from 38 Biillion. So you tell me, is your government workging for YOU?
