Well, well, well…Keith Olbermann has been canned at MSNBC. As I’ve said in the past, there was a time I greatly admired Olbermann’s style and obvious intellect. Over time he became a hopeless bore, a jerk who knew how to dish it out, but not take it.

I wish I could say it was his mouth that did him in, but it more likely that MSNBC’s new owners Comcast were not going to tolerate his theatrics. Mediaite notes that “Comcast had consulted with NBC about Olbermann and expressed concerns about the firebrand anchor.”

Toxic tongued Olbermann has made a lot of enemies in and out of the media. He had 2 more years left on his contract.

With little fanfare the LA Times reported:

MSNBC announced Friday night that its marquee “Countdown” anchor and talk show host Keith Olbermann was out. The network did not provide a reason for his abrupt departure.

“MSNBC and Keith Olbermann have ended their contract. The last broadcast of “Countdown with Keith Olbermann” will be this evening. MSNBC thanks Keith for his integral role in MSNBC’s success and we wish him well in his future endeavors,” NBC Universal said in a statement.

I remember how he bad-mouthed Imus immediately after that debacle at MSNBC. Talk about pond scum; he stuck the knife in the I man’s back with relish. He won’t be missed!

Just wondering out loud…I wonder who’s next?
