US BUSINESSES “ECONOMICALLY SHRUGGING” … UNTIL TEAM OBAMA IS OUT OF OFFICE!

Tax-Protest-0054What’s economic shrugging you ask? It’s akin to Going Galt.  What’s that you say? Who is John Galt? Well, if you’ve read Atlas Shrugged you already know.

If you haven’t, here goes.

John Galt is the hero in Ayn Rand’s classic novel Atlas Shrugged. Although the book was written over 50 years ago, reading it today (with few changes) one would think they were reading about the excessives of today’s Progressives in Congress (healthcare, financial “reform”, TARP, the stimulus) and our Poseur President, Obama.

The economy is stalled … businesses large and small are not hiring or spending except for the essentials.  Some in the Obama Administration have commented that business is purposely not spending or hiring in order to make Obama look bad.

I would suggest that Obama doesn’t need anyone’s help to look bad.  He and his team do that all by themselves.  Team Obama is incompetent, petty, narrow minded, and focused on a single mission … trying to turn American into a socialist Utopia.

In truth, business isn’t hiring or spending because of uncertainty, because higher taxes are kicking in next year, because Obamacare, because of a new round of burdensome regulations, and because Obama is openly hostile to business!

Team Obama is anti-business and so is this Congress which keeps on passing legislation that is despised by 65% or more of the populace.  Our Republic only works when legislators pass legislation that works in concert with consent of the governed.   Tea Parties across the country grew out frustration that the voices of middle and moderate America were being discounted and disparaged by those whose job it is to govern even evenhandedly and to uphold the Constitution.

Team Obama has called those who disagree with his agenda, cowards, racists, poorly educated, afraid and fearful, while asking us to please spend our money on things not needed while many lack a jobs or place to live!

The fact is, those most responsible for growing the economy are being taxed and demonized for their success.  Barney Frank and Chris Dodd (relentless wealth redistributionists) and slew of others have pushed forth an economic reform bill (talk about an oxymoron) that completely ignores Fannie and Freddie Mac’s impact and assault on the economy.  Their asinine loan programs brought us millions of foreclosures.  Worse still, we have five new governmental agencies being brought on board to manage all the new rules, regulations, and paperwork because small business doesn’t have enough of those!

What we have are businesses and creative people who are finding ways to cut back on their output because Obama’s administration is focused on its own political agenda.   Obama’s “new economic order” punishes effort and rewards envy. Take from those who have and give to those who don’t whether these free lunches are warranted or not.  Whether intentional or not, the country and those that produce are reflexively “Going Galt” … and why shouldn’t they?

All of which brings us back to John Galt …

[...] in Rand’s novel the United States is governed by bureaucrats, “looters” and “moochers,” who penalize and demonize creative people. The country is in decline because creative people are disappearing — they have followed the innovative John Galt to a mountain enclave, “Galt’s Gulch,” where they watch society crumble. Creativity has gone on strike (the working title of the novel was “The Strike”), and the engine of capitalism cannot run without it.

This is from the Wall Street Journal:

In the book, every new act of government futility and stupidity carries with it a benevolent-sounding title. These include the “Anti-Greed Act” to redistribute income (sounds like Charlie Rangel’s promises soak-the-rich tax bill) and the “Equalization of Opportunity Act” to prevent people from starting more than one business (to give other people a chance). My personal favorite, the “Anti Dog-Eat-Dog Act,” aims to restrict cut-throat competition between firms and thus slow the wave of business bankruptcies. Why didn’t Hank Paulson think of that?

These acts and edicts sound farcical, yes, but no more so than the actual events in Washington, circa 2008. We already have been served up the $700 billion “Emergency Economic Stabilization Act” and the “Auto Industry Financing and Restructuring Act.” Now that Barack Obama is in town, he will soon sign into law with great urgency the “American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan.” This latest Hail Mary pass will increase the federal budget (which has already expanded by $1.5 trillion in eight years under George Bush) by an additional $1 trillion — in roughly his first 100 days in office.

I don’t know about you, but if this isn’t the time to economically shrug, when is?

THINK OBAMA HAS EVER READ ATLAS SHRUGGED? (UPDATED)

Update #2 – US Businesses are Economically Shrugging until Obama leaves office.  Here.

This was written in November of 2008 just before the election.  I was crossing my fingers that Obama and his policies wouldn’t turn this country’s economy into economic chaos.  I was wrong.  It is clear he never read Atlas ShruggedUnwittingly, he and the Dem’s have become characters off the pages of this Rand novel.

AYN RAND

This is from a recent article in the Wall Street Journal:

Many of us who know Rand’s work have noticed that with each passing week, and with each successive bailout plan and economic-stimulus scheme out of Washington, our current politicians are committing the very acts of economic lunacy that “Atlas Shrugged” parodied in 1957, when this 1,000-page novel was first published and became an instant hit.

I was thinking about this morning, when I heard Obama had mentioned Ayn Rand’s book The Virtue of Selfishness to buttress his claim that the McCain/Palin economic policies were selfish.

My guess is that if he had, he didn’t understand her underlying concepts in the book, which BTW I think most people would find challenging given the fact that Rand’s definition of selfishness is not the one most people understand.

In keeping with Rand’s definition of selfish and carrying it over to our country’s economics, let me just say, that I believe there are two kinds of capitalists . . . smart capitalists and dumb capitalists.

Smart capitalists (RATIONAL) understand that it is in their selfish interests to be sure that there are limited government funds for education, defense, the country’s infrastructure. I’ve always thought that the concept of, “pay me now or pay me later” applies here; education being the best example of being selfish for the common good.

Dumb capitalists behave in a way that is contrary to their own self interests . . . one could say this is irrational behavior, because if one subscribes to “pay me now or pay me later” it is clear there is no free lunch when living in a society where people are dependent upon each other . . . their work and their good will.

Either we make sure that every child receives a good education or our country pays the consequences with part of the population being illiterate, turning to drugs, despair, crime etc. It is in our selfish interests that we fund quality education for all of our citizens.

That having been said, this is a far different concept than Obama’s socialist/Marxist notion of spreading the wealth around . . . of taking from people who have produced wealth and giving to people who have not.

Ah, but I digress.

Before you know it I was thinking about Rand’s other books, The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged. I was thinking about what happens in socialist countries, how innovation is stifled . . . I was thinking what a socialist/Marxist America might look like when I found these comments concerning Atlas Shrugged and what the book addresses that Obama doesn’t understand.

In the world of Atlas Shrugged, society stagnated when independent productive achievers began to be socially demonized and even punished for their accomplishments, even though society had been far more healthy and prosperous by allowing, encouraging and rewarding self-reliance and individual achievement. Independence and personal happiness flourished to the extent that people were free, and achievement was rewarded to the extent that individual ownership of private property was strictly respected. The hero, John Galt, lives a life of laissez-faire capitalism as the only way to live consistent with his beliefs.

Atlas Shrugged is a political book. It portrays fascism, socialism and communism – any form of state intervention in society – as systemically and fatally flawed. However, Rand claimed that it is not a fundamentally political book, but that the politics portrayed in the novel are a result of her attempt to display her image of the ideal person and the individual mind’s position and value in society.[citation needed]

Rand argues that independence and individual achievement enable society to survive and thrive, and should be embraced. But this requires a “rationalmoral code. She argues that, over time, coerced self-sacrifice causes any society to self-destruct.

It has been written, that for many people, reading Atlas Shrugged has had as great an impact on their lives as reading the Bible. That might be a stretch, but I can testify that Rand’s books have impacted on my outlook on life.

They should be required reading in history classes and democracies every where.

REVOLVER

In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.

George Orwell.

besides…

Herman Cain can become the Peoples President. Unlike Obama, Cain’s grassroots support is real not manufactured.

THE PEOPLES PRESIDENT 2012

Herman Cain crushed the so-called first tier candidates Mitt Romney (aka mittens) and Rick Perry in yesterday’s Florida straw poll. Cain’s win is important enough to bring international interest, with the International Business Times calling it a new race.

Surprise, surprise. surprise, (not!) the Sunday talk shows are chattering about Cain defeating Romney and Perry in the Florida straw poll.

What is left unsaid is that the real surprise to them is that the voters are not following the MSM & GOP elites narrative on who is likely to run against the fraud Obama.

Their narrative has no room for Herman Cain and so they barely/rarely cover him. Why bring attention to a man who can really turn this country around, right? And so they speak his name in whispers or not at all! All of that changed yesterday.

One of the lessons to be learned in the 2012 election is name recognition isn’t everything. It’s the message that counts! Simply put so even a Progressive “journalist” can understand, the truth will out!

What the GOP elites and the MSM fail to realize, is that they have made themselves increasingly irrelevant to the voters of America. They are as tone deaf to the voters as Obama is to capitalism.

A Cain victory over Obama is payback by the Birthers and independents for the GOP’s failure to tell the truth about Obama’s ineligibility. It is payback for knowingly leading the nation astray. Obama’s a fake and everyone knows it, with the possible exception of the most rabid Obots.

Even worse than Obama’s fraudulent presidency (Born a Brit, not Legit) has been his clear inability to perform the tasks at hand. BHO likes the pomp and circumstance. but the work needed to truly be the POTUS. God, he is such a waste, such an empty suit!

Unlike Romney (picked by Rove) and Perry (said to be NWO), Cain is not a  bought man, and that boys ‘n girls is like a breath of fresh air.  Unlike Obama, Cain thankfully is not a Progressive!

Over at American Thinker the question was posed, “Is the Cain win an anyone but Romney vote?”  I think not. Cain is the real deal, and he’s Obama’s worst nightmare!

OBAMA BORN A BRIT NOT LEGIT
Let's be clear. The eligibility requirement for POTUS is natural born citizen, not naturalized citizen, not native born citizen, not citizen of the United States.
Each type of citizenship has a legal definition and is very specific despite the attempts by Team Obama, the co-conspirators in the judiciary, Congress, and the MSM to conflate the terms and bastardize the Presidency.
